About this policy
Altera Talent Partners ("Altera", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information openly and transparently. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and with comparable obligations in the other jurisdictions in which we operate.
By engaging with us — as a candidate, client, talent community member or website visitor — you acknowledge the practices described here.
Information we collect
The personal information we collect depends on your relationship with us and may include:
- Identity and contact details — name, email, phone, postal address and location
- Career information — CV, work history, qualifications, certifications, skills, work rights, salary expectations and references
- Application and engagement records — roles applied for, correspondence and assessment notes
- Client and employer details — company information and contact details of representatives
- Technical data — IP address, device and browsing information collected via cookies (see our Cookie Policy)
How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you (for example when you register, apply for a role, upload a CV or complete a form), and from third parties such as referees and, where you have authorised it, professional networking platforms. Where it is reasonable and practicable, we collect information directly from you.
How we use your information
We use personal information to provide our recruitment and talent advisory services, including to:
- Assess your suitability for roles and present you to clients (only with your consent for the release of identifying information)
- Manage applications, engagements and our relationship with you
- Provide salary insights, market updates and career content you have subscribed to
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations
- Improve our services and website
Candidate confidentiality
We treat candidate information with particular care. Employers do not see your name, contact details, address, professional networking profile, full CV or personal documents unless and until you have consented to their release for a specific opportunity. Until then, employers see only anonymised professional summaries.
Disclosure of information
We disclose personal information only as necessary to provide our services and as permitted by law — for example to prospective employers (with your consent), to service providers who support our operations under confidentiality obligations, and to regulators where required. We do not sell personal information.
Cross-border disclosure
As an APAC-focused firm with global reach, we may disclose information to recipients located outside your home country in connection with international assignments. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle your information consistently with applicable privacy law. See our Cross-Border Data Policy for detail.
Security and retention
We hold information using a combination of physical, technical and administrative safeguards. We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and to meet legal obligations, after which it is securely destroyed or de-identified. See our Data Retention Policy.
Your rights
You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you, withdraw consent, or request deletion, subject to legal limits. To exercise these rights, contact our Privacy Officer. You may also lodge a complaint with us and, if unresolved, with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
